Bradwell

Found 36km southeast Saskatoon, Bradwell is a remarkable village that has been around since 1907. In 1936, archaeological findings of Neolithic male human remains (skeleton) brought this village a lot of fame. The name of the man found here became the ‘Bradwell Man.’ In addition to this finding, eagle talons and stone scraper amongst other finding made close to Bradwell.
Bradwell is a natural and beautiful location, with houses and trees all over. Life here is simple and quiet.
According to Bradwell’s history, the first hotel built here was by Ben Cook, which was a very inviting and comfortable two-storey building. However, in 1950 Wendelyn Heisler demolished the structure after ownership passed on to his wife and him from 1948 to 1956. In many ways, it was a loss in terms of historic relics at Bradwell.
Ben Cook took birth in Ontario (1861) and got married to Sarah Slack in 1897. He settled in Bradwell during 1906, and he had started making his hotel during this time. The couple adopted Wibur, their son. In 1918, due to the outbreak of Spanish Flu, Sarah went to her brother’s place at Vanguard to assist with his ill family. Three of his children did not survive, and when Sarah returned home, she contracted the Flu too, passing away in 1919 at a Saskatoon hospital. After a couple of years, Ben married Beatrice Slack, and had two children. Ben passed away in 1948.
