Laird

Laird Township belongs to the Algoma District, situated north of Ontario (Canada). Its situation is twenty-nine miles towards the east of Sault Ste. Marie. It covers approximately 85.18sq miles in area. The Famous Laird International Raceway is one of the most prominent possessions of Laird.
In 2011, the population was approximately 1,057 and in 2006, it was 1078. The two communities included in Laird Township include the Neebish and Laird community. A portion of the Bar River also adds into Laird, and a hamlet connects Laird with the Macdonald, Aberdeen and Meredith settlements amongst others.
It has an advantage of direct access to conveniences that larger communities offer, because it shares borders with the Village of Echo Bay and others like Highway 17 corridor. This maintains a relaxing atmosphere at Laird and promotes commercial growth. The logging and agricultural industry both add to the economic growth, but agriculture seems to supersede the logging business.
The availability of water bodies and woods allow residents here to enjoy seasonal activities, making Laird a fun place. People sometimes seek employment in neighboring towns, but return to Laird at the end of the day. This is because Laird offers inhabitants the simple pleasures of a happy and fulfilled life along with work opportunities.
