Properties for Sale in the RM of Monet No. 257

Monet No. 257

The Rural Municipality of Monet No. 257, established on December 13, 1909—named after pioneer farmer Fortunat Monet—is located in southwest Saskatchewan surrounding the town of Elrose. Covering about 1,588 km², the RM supports a primarily agricultural economy, with fertile Class A soils producing grains and oilseeds, and fields that recovered from Dust Bowl-era drought through conservation and community pasture programs. In 1966, it expanded eastward with the amalgamation of Fairview No. 258 and now includes historic hamlets like Hughton, Forgan, Greenan, and Wartime. Governed from Elrose by a reeve and council, the municipality balances strong farming roots with recreational and heritage assets—such as the Elrose Brick School Museum, regional park, and Hughton Medicine Wheel—fostering a proud, community-minded rural landscape.
